On a day when the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) is scheduled to meet and discuss the next course of action on the reforms proposed by him, Justice (retired) RM Lodha said it was "unfortunate" that even after almost one year since the verdict, the recommendations could not be implemented.

"I am sad and it’s unfortunate. CoA was appointed about six months back. There was sufficient time to implement the order. It’s not a happy moment, it’s quite unpleasant," Lodha said on Saturday. On January 30 this year, the Supreme Court had appointed a four-member committee headed by former comptroller and auditor general (CAG)âÂÂu00c2u0080ÂÂu00c2u0088Vinod Rai to administer the day to day affairs of the BCCI, as an interim measure to oversee the implementation of the Lodha committee recommendations.

Meanwhile, Unfazed by the delaying tactics adopted by the members of BCCI at its last SGM, the CoA has strengthened its resolve to implement the mandate given to them by the apex court. "There is no question of being disappointed or not (over the outcome of the SGM which decided to form a committee to revisit certain points of the SC order). We have a mandate to fulfil and we are geared up to fulfil it whether the SGM takes decision this way or that," said Rai after a meeting in Mumbai on Saturday.
Rai said a status report will be filed in the apex court when the matter comes up for hearing next on July 14.

The BCCI’s eight-member committee, which met in New Delhi on Saturday, deliberated on the issue of three-year ‘cooling off’ period with a couple of alternate suggestions, including a 12-year-one-break tenure for office bearers in the proposed draft bill of National Sports Code.
