Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is homesick and has returned to Argentina.

According to his friend Roque Santa Cruz, Tevez is missing his family, particularly his young daughters - Florencia and Katia.

"When you feel that your homeland is calling you back, you could end up giving up everything to return," the Sun quoted Cruz, as saying.

"But I think he will see out the last three years of his contract before returning home," he added.

Tevez had earlier admitted that he was seriously thinking about quitting football forever.

"I have been playing many games this season, and my body is feeling it. I am tired. I started to play when I was really young and I have always fought so much, but now I'm feeling the effort," Tevez had said.

"I'm an old guy now, and I started to think about some stuff. For example, I am less tolerant as a person today than I was a few years ago. Then I think - what happens if I quit football as long as I am okay in my life?" he added.

The Argentine footballer is currently the captain of Manchester City.

He has previously played for Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham United and Manchester United.

He transferred to Manchester City in 2009 summer transfer window, becoming the first player to move between the two clubs since Terry Cooke in 1999.

The 26-year-old has made over 50 appearances for the Argentina national team, scoring 12 goals.
