Over 11 lakh students are appearing for this year’s HSC exams and their preparations have been hit over the uncertainty of the exams being conducted, as the 60,000-strong teachers’ federation has decided to boycott exam-related duties over long-pending demands.
After days of wrangling, the state education commissioner S Choklingam said that the state would take a decision today.

“Let us wait for a day. Things will get clear by tomorrow evening. I appeal to all students not to panic and continue their preparations for the exams, as they will be conducted smoothly,” said Choklingam at a press conference yesterday.
When Choklingam was asked why wasn’t a long-term solution being put in to place what with boycotting board exams or exam related work becoming a yearly trend, he said, “Ask me this question after six months.”
He also evaded questions on whether any alternate arrangements were being made if nothing favourable comes out in the cabinet meet.
When MSBSHSE chairperson Gangadhar Mhamane was asked to clarify on reports that several students were yet to receive hall tickets, he said, “Students have started receiving their hall tickets. The divisional boards have already dispatched it to colleges. If any student has any complaints regarding hall ticket he can contact the board office.”
