Shop for safety at this mall
This is a mall activity with a difference. Even as our consumer culture peaks during summer holidays, with kids spending time out by lightening their mom and dad's wallets, Safe Kids Foundation India, a network of Safe Kids Worldwide, is holding an activity to educate children about road safety at R-City Mall in Ghatkopar.
The activity is to take place on May 9 and 10 and is aimed at encouraging children to follow road rules in order to avoid road calamities. The organisation works on the axiom that road rules need to be so deeply ingrained in children that they become good habits.
Using the play method, this evening activity is going to feature skits, jigsaw puzzles and games like snakes and ladders to help in driving home safety messages. Given the plethora of workshops and classes that kids are inundated with this summer, this is a great activity, to keep kids occupied and teach them safety. A ride on the bus over the weekend for Mumbai darshan, saw 30 passengers bend and duck as overgrown branches slammed against the open deck of the bus near Mantralaya, Bank Street, Tata House and Bombay High Court. Standing enthusiasts in the bus got a slap and whack from these branches.
The bus guide said trimming branches is a difficult process, and, the driver is generally unaware of the length of the branches and so in the past month 'Mind your head' is the constant refrain heard on this bus. Ouch you better crouch.
