Following Sunday's incident when monorail services between Wadala and Chembur was disrupted for more than three hours due to power failure, the MMRDA has decided to encase the entire cable wire along the corridor. The work has already started and phase -2 will also see the wires that provide electricity to the monorail being encased as a precaution.
Metropolitan Commissioner UPS Madan said, "It seems that the power failure took place because there was problem with the cable that supplies power. However, the officials are finding out the exact reason for the problem. As a precautionary measure, we have already started the work of encasing of wire on both phase I and phase II so that the power supply wires don't get damaged when the excavation and digging work is carried out on the road."

The authorities are also shocked about the fact that why the automatic system that supplies power to the system in case of power did not work. The work of encasing will be carriedout in the night as it cannot be done during the day.
On Sunday morning, a technical glitch on the Wadala-Chembur monorail stretch led to services on the corridor being affected. Due to power supply failure, the monorail train going from Wadala to Bhakti Park got stuck and fire brigade had to call in to evacuate passangers who were stuck.
