The trainer allegedly threatened and touched the Lokhandwala resident inappropriately because she had advised her friend to stay away from him
The Amboli Police arrested a gym trainer last evening for allegedly molesting and threatening a woman. The 35-year-old woman, who is a Lokhandwala resident, had filed an FIR against the gym trainer, Karan Kiraad, at the Amboli police station on September 2.
According to the police, Kiraad, who is employed with Waves Gym, Andheri (W) as a fitness trainer, allegedly harassed the survivor on August 14. The survivor, who is a teacher by profession, told the cops that she has been a member of the gym for almost eight years and had never faced any trouble with the management or the place until she started training under Kiraad in December 2014. She alleged that Kiraad used to flirt with many women coming to the gym.

The incident
A few months ago, a friend of the complainant joined the gym and started training under Kiraad. The trainer started flirting with the survivor’s friend and tried to lure her by telling her that he will train her better and by giving her extra attention.
The woman started falling for Kiraad’s flirtatious ways and started spending money on him. When the victim noticed this demeanor of her friend, she advised her to stay away from Kiraad. Seeing no change in her behavior, she complained to the gym authorities. However, the gym management did not take any action against Kiraad.
“Later, I advised my friend to stay away from him as it may affect her married life. I also told her that he is simply using her for money. But it fell on deaf ears,” the survivor said. Her friend went ahead and informed Kiraad after which the latter began calling and sending threatening messages to the victim.

On August 14, the accused called the victim to a personal studio to discuss the issue. Kiraad and her friend were present there. The accused allegedly pushed her and touched her inappropriately. He, then, hurled abuses at her and asked her to leave the gym. Her friend fainted, allowing the harrowing event to take place, the survivor alleged.
The victim went to the gym authorities, but they failed to take any action. She then approached the Amboli police, where a Non Cognisable (NC) complaint was registered. After the investigation, an FIR was lodged against Kiraad. The offence has been registered under Section 509 and 354 of IPC.

“We have arrested Karan Kiraad yesterday evening and have taken statements of the employees of the gym. We have asked the gym authority to provide the CCTV footage. He will be produced before Andheri court on Tuesday,” said Amar Patil, investigation officer from Amboli police station. When mid-day tried to contact Waves Gym, they said that they were not aware of the incident.
