For most urban working professionals, taking care of the ill and elderly at home is a major challenge. And if you are a single child or part of a nuclear family with no relatives around, juggling between work and home can be a nightmare. Don't worry, help is just a click away. Care24 is an online service where you can hire services of attendants, nurses and physiotherapists at home to take care of the ill and elderly.

The brainchild of three IIT alumni — Vipin Pathak, Abhishek Tripathi and Garima Tripathi — Care24 was launched in December 2014. It has around 800 licensed caregivers offering services across Mumbai, and claims to have offered their services to more than 1,000 people at home. “Right now, we are serving most of the Mumbai Metro-politan Region till wherever the local railways connect,” says Pathak, co-founder and CEO of Care24.
Help can be hired on hourly, daily as well as monthly basis. The company charges anywhere from Rs 500 to Rs 800 per hour for physiotherapists, Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,400 for nursing and Rs 500 to Rs 700 for attendants for a period of 12 hours. Considering the nature of the service, where there are high chances of mental/physical abuse or ill treatment towards the subjects going un-noticed, Pathak says they use very stringent methods of selection.
“We take all the necessary precautions — from carrying out background checks and verification of credentials, to a psych evaluation by an in-house psychiatrist — before hiring a caregiver,” informs Pathak.
