Siddhesh Lad's half-century (60) and Suryakumar Yadav's 49 helped Mumbai pile up an overall 479, after scoring 182 in the second innings against Rest of India (ROI) on Day Four of the Irani Cup at the Brabourne Stadium yesterday. At stumps ROI scored were 100-1, needing another 380 to win on the final day of match today.

Lad, playing in his 25th first-class match, scored his fourth consecutive 50-plus score during his 109-ball stay at the wicket. The 23-year-old came into bat when Mumbai were in a spot of bother at 62 for four.
He initially took his time to settle down and penalise the loose balls for four. He punished off-spinner Jayant Yadav twice in innings 37th over, dispatching him for a six and a four to get to 46. Then, in Jayant's next over, Lad got a thick outside edge to the third man fence to complete his 50 in 82 balls. However, it was Jayant who dismissed Lad eventually.
Lad failed to read the bounce correctly and the ball went off his gloves to leg slip fielder Sudip Chatterjee, who pocketed the catch to deny the Mumbai lad his third first-class century.
However, Lad, who scored 88 against Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy final, 60 against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy semi-final, before his 66 and 60 in this match, said he's not thinking about that elusive century.
"It's important to get runs for the team and these all are crucial runs. I could have done better, but I am happy with my knock. But, obviously, I will try and work harder… I'll speak to the senior players and coaches about where I went wrong," said Lad, who, alongwith first innings centurion Suryakumar Yadav put on 54 for the fifth wicket.
Jayant accounted for Suryakumar's wicket. One short of his half ton, Suryakumar tried to sweep an outside-the-off-stump delivery, but the ball took inside edge, went off his boot and into the hands of substitute fielder Ian Dev Singh at first slip.
