Mamta, the daughter of a constable, was in touch with her mother till Wednesday evening after which her mobile phone was switched off.

When she didn’t return home till next morning, her parents approached the Borivli police to file a missing complaint. While they were at the police station, Malwani cops contacted the Borivli police to ask if they have registered a missing complaint of a girl who matches the description of the dead body they had found. Malwani police then sent a photo of the dead body to a policeman in Borivli and it was identified by Mamta’s father.

Since Mamta’s body had no visible injuries, the police have sent her body for post-mortem and are trying to find out how she reached the beach and whether she was accompanied by someone.

“We have registered an Accident Death Report (ADR) and have requested for Mamta’s mobile phone records,” said a Malwani police official.
