Rajkot: A group of youth workers, protesting the IPL matches in Rajkot, when the city is facing an acute water crisis, barged into the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Friday, when the ground staff was busy preparing the wicket, with an intention to vandalise the pitch.

However, before they could succeed in their deadly design and damage the 22-yard territory on which the match between Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore is to be played today, they were evicted by the State Reserve Police and the SCA security personnel.


The SCA officials informed the police about the incident and beefed up the security inside and outside the stadium.
