IIT-JEE main result 2016: Close to 2 lakh candidates qualify for JEE-advanced

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the results of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2016. A total of 1,98,228 candidates have qualified for JEE-advanced

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the results of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2016 which is used to shortlist candidates who want to join the IITs and other top engineering colleges.


A total of 1,98,228 candidates have qualified for JEE-advanced. While JEE-main determines the admission to engineering courses at non-IIT institutions; students are short-listed from here to appear for JEE-advanced that determines admission to IITs.


A total of 1194938 candidates registered for the test out of which 1128636 appeared for it (including offline and online test). The offline exam was conducted on April 3 and online one was conducted on April 9 and 10 at a total of 132 centers.


19,820 qualified for the JEE (Advanced) Online while 1,78,408 candidates have qualified for the JEE (Advanced) offline test.

Nearly 40,000 girls have qualified for the JEE (Advanced) test while the rest are boys, according to data released by CBSE.

Interestingly, there were four transgender candidates who registered for the examination of which three appeared for it. But none of them qualified for the JEE-advanced.
