Queen of Pop Madonna is known for her ability to shock and that was on full display at the 2016 Met Gala held in New York on Monday.

The singer left little to the imagination with a lacy black dress that exposed her buttocks and barely covered her breasts in what was described by some websites as a "call-back" to her 2015 Grammy ensemble.

The 57-year-old singer's revealing outfit at one of fashion's biggest events of the year, dubbed the Oscars of the East Coast, was a custom Riccardo Tisci-designed black Givenchy gown which she teamed with a pair of latex knee-length boots and a silver headpiece.

She flashed her chest which was only covered by lace overlay and black tape at the "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 2 in New York City.

According to Vogue magazine, the musician's dress was "inspired by the therapeutic kinesiology tape she wears for her fatigued muscles on tour".

She also revealed her derriere through lacy fabric over a skimpy black leotard. She also covered her arms and thighs in black tape, which is commonly used for sports injuries.

Madonna, who is in the midst of a custody battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie over son Rocco, walked in with Givenchy brand creative director Riccardo Tisci.
