A Bollywood awards functions, held in Madrid over the weekend, saw the biggest names of the industry descend on the green carpet. Given the close scrutiny the media keeps on the stars, it was a race to look their glamourous best with colours like white, gold and ivory dominating the event. hitlist points out those who fared well on the fashion meter and who disappointed...

Deepika Padukone managed to do what Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had failed to do with the caped-look at Cannes. While her hair and make-up wasn’t outstanding, something about that gown and how well it went with her body shape tells us this will be a look to remember.

Bipasha Basu’s cobalt blue beautifully complemented Karan Singh Grover’s black tuxedo. Between that risqué neckline and overwhelming ruffles, it felt a bit too much though. However, taking into account how flawless her hair and make-up was, it’s a minor grouse.

While we don’t really dislike this look, it wasn’t as eye-catching as Sonakshi Sinha’s first outing at the gala. She looked pretty, but not as striking as it could have been.

Shilpa Shetty manages to make any outfit work and this Grecian gown was no different. But, we think she needs a makeover — we have practically never seen her experiment with her hair. Time to shake things up!

Among the men, Hrithik Roshan made quite an impact. He paired a grey-on-grey ensemble with black pants, and looked dapper.

Fawad Khan took the classic route by opting for an all-black tuxedo and, needless to say, looked as suave as they come.

We love the gorgeous blush colour of Bhumi Pednekar’s dress and her ox blood lip, but something about the fitting was so wrong that it fell flat.

Richa Chadha’s outfit was our least favourite. We have seen this look way too often and that hairdo made her seem like she was ready for prom, not an awards night.

Neha Dhupia went for a voluminous white skirt with a neat white shirt. While it might not have been incredibly striking, we like that she didn’t go for the usual. That winged eyeliner and pink lip was a win.
