Rahman’s musical stamp on Pele
It’s music is just out, and it sounds fabulous. The soundtrack for Pele: Birth of a Legend is the finest tribute that one legend, AR Rahman, could pay to another. The 20-track album is an ode to the ultimate story of survival, challenges, and eventual success.

The maestro’s music for the film has been dubbed “impeccable” by The Hollywood Reporter. Of his association with this Jeffrey Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist-directed film, Rahman said in a release, “Being a fan of many South American films, I never imagined that one day, I’d be scoring music for a movie on Pele, the soccer legend from Brazil.

He won the Wimbledon junior title in 1989, and won our hearts along the way. Leander Adrian Paes has given India loads to cheer with his triumphs for an astonishing number of years, and the boy-like enthusiasm with which he continues to. His playing partners swear by his commitment while young talent in India can’t seem to get enough when he is in the country.

As the courts of SW19 open up for another edition of the marquee grass court championship today, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the journeyman bags another (or two) in the doubles’ categories to add to what we can only imagine must be an overflowing mantelpiece. We’ll be cheering for the champ.
