Followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar have planned a protest march for today, which is expected to cause inconvenience to the locals and shopkeepers of Dadar east and Bhoiwada.

The march has been organised against the Bhoiwada police station for failing to arrest the people who have been accused of bringing down the Ambedkar Bhavan on Saturday. A section associated with the People’s Improvement Trust brought down the sprawling structure from where Dr Ambedkar started his political movements and this gave rise to a lot of protests since then.
The morcha that will start around 12.30 pm today will cover Dr Ambedkar Bhavan till Bhoiwada police station. Thousands of followers of Ambedkar’s ideology from minimum five political parties are expected to lend weight to the protest march.
“We are expecting all the political parties and people who believe in the ideologies of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar to participate in large numbers,” said Ramesh Jadhav, office bearer of Republican Sena, one of the participating parties.
The shops in the area are expected to remain shut during the march and even after that. The traffic on the arterial Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar road might also get affected during the morcha, however, Milind Bharambe, joint CP (traffic) said that no diversion has been planned yet.
Yesterday evening when mid-day visited the spot there were around 100 people who had gathered near the Ambedkar Bhavan. A banner condemning the way the demolition was done was also seen near the rubble.
Police says
“No one was detained yesterday. As far as security measures are concerned, we are prepared and additional force from adjoining police stations will also be deployed on Tuesday,” said Tanaji Surulkar, Senior PI, Bhoiwada police station.
