There's no stopping the Nadar siblings. A day after the brother-sister duo chased down a thief who stole their mobile phone and ensured he was put behind bars, they were felicitated by the city police. The cops have also said that their names will be put forward for the President’s annual bravery award.

mid-day had yesterday reported on Vincy (15) and Mathew’s (11) feat in, ‘Siblings, 15 and 11, whack mobile thief, chase him down.’ They were on their way to the Sunday mass when thief Kanan Mariyappa Devendra snatched Vincy’s mobile phone. She struggled to hold on while Mathew hit Devendra with an umbrella. But, Devendra ran with the phone. The siblings chased him for 100 metres and with help of cabbies, caught him.

‘Applauded us’
On Monday DCP N Ambika called both Nadar family members to her office. She met the kids and spoke to them for over half an hour and felicitated them as well. Vincy said, “DCP ma’am spoke to us and encouraged us. Since I want to become an IPS officer, she gave me several tips on how to go about and study further. She said I can call her whenever I need help. She applauded us on the way we caught the thief.”

DCP Ambika said, “The kids did an excellent job and set an example of bravery. Everyone should support the cops in the same way. One should not risk their life, but should be brave enough.” She added, “Vincy wants to become a police officer, so I guided her and gave her several tips.”

Sudhakar Nadar, their father, said, “This is a very proud moment for me and my wife. I am thankful to the Mumbai police and DCP ma’am for showing such support and boosting the kids’ morale.”
