Finally, the state-run hospital St George Hospital will get a CT scan machine soon that would help patients
Finally, the state-run hospital St George Hospital would get a CT scan machine soon. The new machine will help poor patients who will then be able to use the facility for Rs 700 and not have to pay around Rs 2,500 for the same in private clinics.
The hospital receives around 40 patients every day who require CT scans immediately. Such patients are sent to JJ Hospital and GT Hospital for the examination. This is time-consuming and delays treatment.

“We get highest number of train accident cases that requires immediate CT scan. But as we have to send the patients to another hospital, it delays the early treatment hours, the golden hour that is considered as the most important time for treatment,” said a doctor from the hospital.
The project to get the CT scan was pending for the past two years. A total budget of Rs 7 crore was allocated for the CT scan machine but the hospital failed to arrange for another Rs 1 crore that further delayed the project.
But on Thursday, in a meeting of the district planning committee, it was announced that the hospital would get the CT scan machine within 1-2 months.
Confirming the news, Dr TP Lahane said, “We have been trying to get the CT scan machine in the hospital. Now, within few days, the hospital would get one that would benefits hundreds of needy patients.”
GT hospital is running the facility with public-private partnership but Cama Hospital still doesn’t have the CT scan.
