Even as special round for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions began from Monday, candidates and parents continue to remain confused.
On Monday, several students crowded the Deputy Director of Education's (DyDE) office in Charniroad to get more clarity on the admission process. While many students do not know appropriate procedure of the special round, candidates who are unhappy with the allotment want another chance to re-apply.

Even as one round of entire FYJC online admission process is over, a special round was declared by the state education minister to accommodate around 70,000 candidates who still haven't got admission for various reasons such as – failing to report on allotted seat, who did not apply in the online system etc. As per the special round. On Monday, students who did not confirm admissions on allotted seats were reminded with and SMS to take admission on those seats but confused candidates and parents crowded DyDE's office when they did not receive any message.
Pranay Kamble, a candidate who was thrown out of the system because he failed to report on the seat allotted to him in first round, said, "I did not receive any message today. But it was only later in the day that I understood the process for candidates like me website is to open for reapplication after July 30. Until today, every officer was telling a different process which confused me which is why all of us have landed up at the DyDE's office."
"Today when the Deputy Director himself came out to talk to parents crowding outside his office, there was much clarity. Now they are ensuring that the circular will be pasted at all colleges and help centres," said Rupal Shah, a parent from Govaliya Tank whose son has already gotten an admission in National College. "We have secured that seat with Rs.50. because we want other college. But we were confused if at all we will be included in the reapplication round," she added.
While Deputy Director of education, B B Chavan was not available to comment, a senior officer from his office, told mid-day, "SMS's will be going out until tomorrow. Candidates need to confirm their admissions on allotted seats so that we will have a clearer picture to open the process for rerun of application for those who are completely without seats. Parents are getting confused for no reason, as the process is clear. Moreover, most of these parents who are complaining are those insisting for admission to specific colleges. But in a transparent process of online admission it is not possible."
