NCP legislator Sandeep Bajoria, who courted controversy last week by dozing off in the House while a gang rape case was being discussed, is back in the news and for all the wrong reasons.

Yesterday, after the House was adjourned, Bajoria challenged energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule saying he had proof of corruption against him and his department. Significantly, no other Upper House member had made any reference to corruption in Bawankule’s department during the debate on corruption. In fact, Bawankule had earlier urged the chairman to expunge the name of his department because no allegation had been made against him.

When his request was granted, Bajoria suddenly told the House during recess that he had explosive material against the minister. But Bawankule replied saying it was wrong of Bajoria to say this when the debate was over.

Talking to mid-day, Bawankule said, “The MLC breached the legislative process. He had ample time to speak about my department, but he chose to use bad words against me when the debate was over. It reflects badly on all of us who follow legislative processes.” According to Bawankule, Bajoria later crossed paths with him and argued over the same topic. Bawankule added Bajoria had approached him again after some time. “I won’t tell you if he apologised, but I have decided to move on as all legislators are my colleagues and friends,” he said. Bajoria remained unavailable for comment.

Last week...
Bajoria slept while his party colleague and opposition leader in the house Dhananjay Munde, was tearing the government apart over the Ahmednagar gang rape and killing case. He woke up when some sensitive legislators sent him a missive through assistants posted inside the house.
