After performing at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles, the Golden Symphony tour is coming to India. It will feature jugalbandi between Lakshay Mohan and Aayush Mohan (grand disciples of Shri Pandit Ravi Shankar) along with cello maestro Barry Phillips.

While the performance in New Delhi wrapped up on July 23, the Golden Symphony tour can be watched in Bengaluru’s Chowdia Memorial Hall on July 29 and Nehru Centre in Mumbai on August 3.

Brothers Lakshay and Aayush are the only Indian duo to have been invited to perform at the prestigious museum in the US. The String Trinity, their recent collaboration with Grammy award winner Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt brought three plucked string instruments together — sitar, sarod and the veena. They have played at music festivals and venues, including India Fine Arts Academy (San Diego), Learn Quest Music Conference (Boston); The Abbey Theatre (Columbus) and classical music festivals in the subcontinent.

After listening to Lakshay and Aayush at the Ravi Shankar Centre in the year 2012, Pandit Ravi Shankar, decided to launch them for their debut USA tour under his foundation. The brothers have been given a strong foundation in the Maihar style of playing by musicians of Maihar Gharana – Padmabhushan Smt. Sharan Rani and Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra. Comprehensive training in the intricacies of ‘Dhrupad ang’ (style) from Padmashri Gundecha Brothers has added a new dimension to their music. Having developed an ingenious and deeply personal interpretation of their gharana’s rich musical heritage, Lakshay and Aayush have evolved their own unique style of playing jugalbandi.
