A lavish reception for the wedding of Alishah Parkar, the nephew of India’s most wanted don Dawood Ibrahim, on Wednesday continued till 1.40 am at the Tulip Star hotel in Juhu and saw 300 guests in attendance apart from close relatives and friends. Sources said, “Iqbal Kaskar had attended Umaira’s wedding and reception in 2015, but it was surprising that he did not attend Alishah’s wedding. The reason could be a family matter, as he was in the city while Alishah was getting married but did not come to the reception.”

Alishah is Haseena Parkar’s youngest son. Haseena died from a massive heart attack in July 2014 and her husband Ibrahim Parkar was killed in the late 90s by the Arun Gawli gang.

Sources said, “It is not clear why Dawood’s younger brother suddenly decided to give Alishah’s reception the miss.”

Alishah is the youngest of three siblings, the others being Umaira and Danish. Danish had died at the age of 23 in a road accident in 2006, while Umaira got married last year in Mumbai.

The police are trying to ascertain why. However, the Mumbai crime branch and officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad kept a vigil at the reception function.

Police officers were present at the venue to keep a watch on the proceedings.

About a week ago, Dawood Ibrahim’s younger sister Farzana Tungekar’s son, Junaid Tungekar, named his first child, a daughter, Amina Bi, the name of Dawood Ibrahim’s mother. Junaid had got married in May 2015 and his reception was also held at the same venue as Alishah’s.
