A multi-sport pan India school and college sports programmes under the banner of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) was kicked off on Saturday by the recently elected International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Nita Ambani at the Reliance Jio Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

Speaking of the programme, Nita Ambani said, "We are very excited about this programme. We have spent a lot of time studying and identifying the gaps. It is a five-year programme where we are going to launch a multi-sports competition. We are starting with football this year. Next year, we plan to launch it in eight more cities and introduce some more sports."
It has also set up an elite six-member advisory board consisting of Nita Ambani, Sachin Tendulkar, Leander Paes, Prof Dipak Jain, Saina Nehwal and Ranbir Kapoor.
This year, RFYS has introduced a football competition across eight cities namely, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Guwahati, Delhi, Kolkata and Kochi in four categories. The city winners in each category would go on to represent their respective cities on a national level. Over the next three months, Mumbai will see over 500 institutes fielding over 600 teams playing football at various grounds.
In the inaugural match of the programme HR College defeated Wilson College 2-0 in the senior girls category. Ranbir Kapoor, an alumni of HR college, was there to cheer the girls.
