The launch of the KCA-IDBI Bowling Foundation by Kerala Cricket Association in partnership with IDBI Federal Life Insurance company was announced today in the presence of Thomson, who is its head coach.

Speaking on the occasion, Thomson said he was absolutely delighted to be back in India.

"After a successful training stint with talented young bowlers in Mumbai and Bengaluru, I am certain that Kerala will provide us with some quality exceptional talent. I hope to make a difference in the lives of these youngsters through my knowledge and experience of the game," he said.

Thomson, fondly called Thommo, will be proceeding to Wayanad to train fast bowlers from September 1 to 16.

Since the BCCI season starts next month, Thomson will finetune the state U-23 and U-19 bowlers playing for Ranji Trophy.

Former India and Kerala fast bowler Tinu Yohanan will assist him in April next year and, in May, open selection trials will be conducted in Kerala to unearth young fast bowlers.

Former Mumbai pacer and CEO of IDBI Federal Life Insurance, Vighnesh Shahane said, "Kerala is an important market for IDBI Federal and we are thrilled to announce this initiative with Kerala Cricket Association."

"We are confident that the brand will gain significantly from supporting this grassroots sporting initiative. By partnering with the Kerala Cricket Association, we hope to see young talented bowlers learn, grow and develop under Thommo's guidance," he said.

Shahane said, "We've seen what Thommo has done in Mumbai and Bengaluru, and the results have been exceptional.

"With him leading from the front, we are confident that he will inspire and transform a generation of young cricketers from Kerala," he said.
