"If something is not right, why didn't you (Powar) not inform the MCA? Why you are speaking after one year?" Shetty asked. Powar quit as coach last week.

"He had complaints against everybody — selectors, trainer, physio etc. He had issues over everyone, saying, 'I don't want this batsman or this bowler.' A coach can pick his XI from the squad of 15, but he also had a problem with players in the list of probables," added Shetty after yesterday's MCA managing committee meeting at Wankhede Stadium.

Kiran, the elder brother of former India off-spinner Ramesh, had no comments to offer on Shetty's views. In a short span of time, Mumbai cricket are without the services of junior Powar, under-23 coach Vinayak Samant, left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla and batsman Bhavin Thakkar, both of whom shifted to Kerala.

Thakkar felt neglected
Thakkar, who was a part of Mumbai's 41st Ranji Trophy winning squad last season, told mid-day that he accepted an offer from Kerala because he felt neglected by the selectors.

"They didn't even pick me in this year's probables. I had a decent outing in the Ranji semi-final where I did the job that I was given. My job is to perform, but as selectors, their job is to look after players. There was no communication. After winning a Ranji Trophy, the winning team is generally retained. They could have called me to let me know if they are looking at younger players," said Thakkar.
