Riding on a cocktail of alcohol and rage, a 26-year-old Govandi resident delayed a Vashi-bound train and also attacked its guard and any commuter who came in his way on Wednesday evening. He did all of this during an argument with his mother, who escorted him out of the platform post the incident.

According to the eyewitnesses, Chinchawade, a resident of Tata Nagar in Govandi, came out on platform 1 of Govandi station at around at 5.20 pm. While having an argument with his mother, the accused came too close to the train. He then attacked whoever came his way and entered the motorman's cabin.

"The guard walked a couple of meters away and then returned towards his cabin after the commuters intervened. The incident also delayed the trains by six minutes. Later, a case was registered against him and the Vashi GRP conducted investigation. The Mankhurd RPF recovered the CCTV footage and identified him," said an RPF officer.
