Brisbane: Rain might have prevented India 'A' opener, Akhil Herwadkar from scoring a century in Brisbane on the final day of the second unofficial Test against Australia 'A' last week, but the Mumbaikar is confident the exposure he got will come handy in the upcoming Ranji Trophy.

Herwadkar (21) was the leading run scorer for India 'A' in the two four-day matches with 148 runs at an average of 49.33 on pitches that aided seam and bounce.

"I understood how to absorb the pressure and the mindset required to overcome tough situations. The bowling was so accurate and the pitch had a bit of a movement so you had to fight it out," Herwadkar told mid-day.

"There will be time in the upcoming season I will have to soak in all the pressure and get through it and my final innings taught me a lot about it," he said. The left-hander was the second highest runs scorer in Ranji Trophy last season, accumulating 873 runs in 11 matches.

After spending nearly two weeks with coach, Rahul Dravid, Herwadkar said he had learnt plenty of lessons from the batting maestro.

"More than technical, he told me to learn from each innings and experience. He also gave us a few pointers on the mental side of the game," Herwadkar added.
