While no Maharashtra player found a place in the Indian team for the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad, it looks like the state has to be content with the appointment of the president of the Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association (MSKA) Kishor Patil as the team manager for the tournament. But in an interesting turn of events, Patil, who was appointed for the post on Thursday, denied any such development.

“Till date, I have not received any intimation about my appointment as team manager. Nobody has called me and I have not received any letter or a call from the authorities,” Patil told mid-day from Aurangabad yesterday.
However, Chief Executive Officer of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) Deoraj Chaturvedi confirmed Patil’s
appointment as team manager.

“Kishor Patil has been appointed as a team manager of the Indian team. We had already given him an appointment letter,” Chaturvedi said.

Meanwhile, Patil, who is also the vice-president of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), slammed the team selection.

“It is a matter of concern for us. There should have been at least one player form Maharashtra in the World Cup team.

“Kashiling Adake’s performance throughout the year was outstanding and he deserved a place,” Patil explained.
Patil added that he will raise the selection issue with AKFI.

“I will talk to the selection committee and Janardan Singh Gehlot, who is chief of the IKF, and ask them why was Maharashtra ignored,” he said.

Under Haryana’s Anup Kumar, India will be eying to defend its third world title in this edition, which is slated to begin on October 7.
