Arshad Warsi is going through a rough patch in his career, and being replaced by Akshay Kumar in Subhash Kapoor's 'Jolly LLB 2' came as a surprise to many. The actor feels the failure of 'Guddu Rangeela', which released last year, also helmed by Kapoor, contributed to his ouster from the sequel to the 2013 courtroom comedy drama.

"I think if 'Guddu Rangeela' would have worked, this situation wouldn't have arisen. The combination of Subhash Kapoor and me (in 'Guddu Rangeela') would have ideally clicked, but unfortunately, it didn't," Arshad says, before quickly adding, "But, I am happy for my friend (Kapoor), since working with Akshay would help him enter the big league of directors and give him a pedestal to work with other superstars. I would have liked to do 'Jolly LLB-2', but I am not depressed or sad that I am not doing it anymore. Being replaced by another actor doesn't bother me."

Arshad also explains that casting a bigger name reduces the risk factor for a production house. "It is the insecurity of the production house that they decided to do go with Akshay. It was a calculated business move by the marketing and PR team; Akshay's presence is enough to get them publicity. With me, they would have had to spend money to make noise about the film," he says with a straight face.

There was buzz about the actor appearing in the sequel as a cameo, but Arshad isn't too sure about that happening, "Subhash has discussed the possibility, but it's not yet confirmed. He told me if the story works out in a certain way, he will approach me. Also, it depends on how I am placed at that time; I have a few projects lined up for which I will start shooting soon."

Arshad is kicked about sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Aankhen 2; they had earlier worked together for 'Zamanaat' in the late '90s, but it didn't see the light of day. "I was launched by his production house two decades ago in 'Tere Mere Sapne' and since then I never got a chance to work with him. I would always get jealous when any newcomer would get a chance to work with him. Finally, my turn has come and this time, I hope everything goes smoothly," he says.
