Anxious parents of students applying for medical courses in Maharashtra finally met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday. As the deadline given by the Bombay High Court for conducting centralised admission process in private colleges ended on Monday, parents have demanded an extension, so that Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) will fill more seats in private colleges. Parents submitted their requests to the CM at his office in Mantralaya.

“The CM just accepted our requests and said that he will look into it. There was no assurance as such,” said Sudha Shenoy, one of the worried parents.

The parents’ requests to the CM include extension of the mandate of C A % seats for Maharashtra domicile students in private colleges to deemed university colleges too. “ We want maximum seats in Maharashtra colleges to be filled by students from here. It will be grave injustice to students if other state’s children come here and fill seats,” stated Shobha Lande.
