All eyes were set on the remake version of the 1973 hit film 'Zanjeer' and Arjun was quite excited to play the role, but apparently due to date issues he has walked out of the film.

"Unfortunately we had date problems with Arjun...so we parted ways," director Apoorva Lakhia told PTI. The film will see Telugu actor Ram Charan reprising the role of Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra will essay the role of Jaya Bachchan and Arjun Rampal was slated to play the pathan, Sher Khan, originally portrayed by veteran actor Pran with long hair and kohl in eyes.

There is a buzz that Sanjay Dutt is likely to step in as the new Sher Khan. When asked about it, Lakhia said, "No it is not true...no one has been confirmed for the role yet." The original action-thriller was produced and directed by Prakash Mehra and is now being produced by his son Amit.

The shooting for the remake, which also stars Prakash Raj and Mahi Gill, began in April this year. Notably, the film established Amitabh Bachchan as the 'angry young man' of Bollywood.

The remake faced quite a few hurdles in terms of copyright and royalty, as the original writers, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, had expressed displeasure over the new version.u00a0
