1. What made you adopt the Cuban alter ego (for your gigs) and Afro-Cuban music, and then, mix it with Hip Hop and Breakdancing ?
I always loved the energy of vintage Salsa and Latin Jazz, since I was a teenager. I grew up being a B-boy, an emcee, and a singer since I was 14. After living and DJ-ing in Spain, in the mid-1990s, and inventing the character of Miguel Mantovani, it was natural to marry the two; it was to get away with being naughty and doing comedy in an environment that had become a little po-faced at the time. After battling Archerio in a Hip-Hop club I invited him to join me at an early Cubano show; we clicked as dancers and performers. Next, we recruited Kengo San who was a student of all styles, and it gave us a chance to mix it up and have fun with all elements.

2. You have visited India (Goa) before for your new album Yo Bonita!! Has Indian music influenced your sound?
We love India, its people, culture, and especially, the music. I found crate digging in Kerala and Goa amazing. I loved some of the Hindi film soundtracks and Bhangra tunes that I picked up while travelling through the country. Our favourite show was at Panjim’s Don Bosco orphanage in in early 2013. It was a chance to do our bit; the energy of those kids gave us buoyancy, which was hard to describe. The work of these institutions is inspirational and to help out was an honour.
3. What are your plans for the Mumbai gig?
We will perform mostly from our new album Yo Bonita!! Besides, you'll hear our new single So Sweet that features Mica Paris on Vimeo and Youtube. There will be a lot of our remixed music and a special throw-down section incorporating local dancers. It’s always good to provide a platform for new talent.
