Four software professionals killed, 2 hurt in road mishap

In yet another accident on Pune-Mumbai highway near Wadgaon Maval, four software professionals were killed and two others got injured, after their car jumped off the divider and rammed into a stationary container on the opposite side of the street early on Sunday morning

Police have identified the deceased as Ashok K Balkrishnan (24) of Fatimanagar in Wanawadi, Nagraj K Rao (23) of Vikasnagar in Kivale, Chandrashekhar Sudhakar Duratkar (23) of Chandannagar in Kharadi and Arun Karunakaran Nair (22) of Kedarinagar in Wanawadi. Julian Maria Susanne and Sundar Shankar Raskatla (22), both from Wanawadi, were injured.

According to police, the six friends started from Kharadi and were travelling in the same car (MH12 JZ 9782), headed towards Lonavala on a leisure trip. When the vehicle reached near Vinodewadi around 4 am, Chandrashekhar, who was driving the car, lost control over it. The speeding car first hit the divider, jumped to the other side, and rammed into a stationary container. The collision was so severe that the car was tossed into the air before landing on the roadside. Local police personnel and highway safety patrol teams rushed to the spot after receiving information.u00a0


A crane was brought to clear the lanes of the highway. Parts of the car had to be cut to remove the bodies, while those injured were admitted to a private hospital near Somatane phata. Some bottles were also found in and around the car.

Inspector Sopan More of Wadgaon Maval police station said, “The deceased were software professionals and were working in reputed companies at Aundh, Vimannagar, and Hadapsar in Pune.”u00a0
