Supersonic multirole combat fighters stole the show on the first day of Aero India 2009 at Yelahanka airbase.
Breathtaking air manoeuvres and performances by both domestic and foreign jets made the seventh edition of Aero India the best so far.
"I'm excited," said defence minister A K Antony. "I'm moved by the Tejas. It was a thrill watching it perform. Other fighters were exciting too."
Show-stealers
Indian Air Force's Sukhoi-30MKI and Tejas, US air force's F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-18 Super Hornet, Russia's MiG35 and the much-anticipated Euro fighter Typhoon exhibited their power as they thundered in the skies.
Indian fighters
Su-30MKI exhibited its strength and rare airlifting ability. The fighter jet that is equipped with a high angle of attack displayed manoeuvrability, taking off and landing characteristics. It also performed the tumble loop air manoeuvre, which only the Su-30MKI can perform.
Tejas, the indigenous light combat aircraft, said to be one of lightest multi-role combat aircraft in the world displayed its strengths. The all-weather aircraft that performs on par with other fighter jets in the world impressed visitors.
US fighters
The F-16 Fighting Falcon performed rare air manoeuvres as did the F-18 Super Hornet , a striking feature of the US airforce.
Pilots at the show ranked them as the best fighters ever. All fighter jets were exciting in this show," said Chris Mc Daniel, an F-16 pilot. "But F-16 is the best. It is one of the most powerful fighters ever made."
Typhoonu00a0
The Euro fighter, Typhoon, flew at Aero India for the first time. It is a strong contender for IAF's $10-billion multirole combat aircraft shopping plan.
The fighter, said to excel powerful jets like F-16, F18 and MiG, exhibited its strength with air manoeuvres. This has an Infrared Search and Track system (IRST) and other latest technologiesu00a0 that make it unique.
Russian fighter
MiG-35, which had reportedly made its way from Russia to Bangalore in three hours for the last edition of Aero India, was appreciated for its strength this time too.
Voices
Visitors at the airshow seemed to have been completely bowled over by the magnificent machines flying around.
"I have visited four airshows. This one is different," said Umesh Patel, CEO, Ankit group. "The difference is due to Indian technology and Indian fighters here."

"The show is the best. It's better than the recent ones in Singapore, Paris and London as all powerful fighter jets are here," said G Ravi Rao, assistant general manager, Speck.

There is no parking on the highway or service roads between Hebbal and BIA.

Vehicles headed to P6 should take the service road at Kogilu Cross and turn left for parking. People from Devanahalli should take 'U' turn at Kogilu Cross, hit the service road to the parking lot. Free shuttle service is provide to the domestic parking area inside the campus.
Domestic parking area
Vehicles headed this parking lot should takeu00a0 Hunasemaranahalli, then take a 'U' turn and then the left. Vehicles from Devanahalli should turn left turn at Airforce Station.
Visitors from city
Air Display Viewing Areau00a0 parking enter service road at Kogilu Cross, turn left at APTS Cross and reach the lotu00a0 via Gantigana halli.u00a0 After the show they will exit via Doddaballapur Road and reach Yelahanka and then to BEL Circle via Mother Dairy and M.S Palya.
Vehicles coming from Devanahalli side headed for ADVA parking should take U turn at Kogilu Cross enter service road and take left at APTS for ADVA parking.u00a0
