With tears in their eyes, parents of a French cyclist, who went missing in the city over a year ago, have sought public help to trace their 27-year-old son.

The parents and sister of Jean Baptiste Talleu are pasting posters and distributing pamphlets here, hoping people would provide information leading to his whereabouts.

"The police are doing their best to find my son. From our side, we will put up posters and distribute pamphlets across the city. If necessary, we will ensure that the posters reach other cities also," Manie Llaire, mother of Jean, said with tears in her eyes. "We miss him a lot. We believe that he is still alive," said Manie.

The French cyclist, who arrived here by a flight from Dubai on December 4, 2007, went missing the very next day. "He was on a world tour on his cycle. As per his bank statements, Jean had withdrawn Rs 1,000 through ATM on December 4. The next day, he had withdrawn Rs 10,000 from Axis Bank in (suburban) Goregaon," said an emotionally-charged Catherine Talleu, sister of Jean.

Sahar police, with whom a missing complaint had been registered, and Crime Branch officials are conducting parallel inquiry into the case.
