Lost in Dadar's maze? Soon a map to help you find your way

Stepping out of Dadar railway station and finding the road to your destination can be a nightmare for the uninitiated, but a possible remedy is likely to change this in the future. As a pilot project, the Central Railway (CR) officials, with the help of transport experts and the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST), will install the first cartographic map at Dadar railway station in the days to come.

As per the plans, the authorities are looking to put up a graphic map, similar to one found in malls, which would indicate the precise location of roads and other local establishments in the bustling area.

People working on the project said that the purpose is to ensure people are not lost after stepping out of the station. “The initiative is in its nascent stage, and we are working on the nitty-gritty,” said Mukesh Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager (Mumbai), Central Railway.

Presently, the authorities and transport experts are studying all the entry and exit points of the station to decide on the best possible location for placing the map, which would be oriented in the direction that the viewer is facing.

Authorities said Dadar was the ideal location, as it is a major transit point for commuters looking to get to the MSRTC bus stand, taxi stand and BEST bus stops.u00a0
