Ever since Sanjay Dutt went behind bars, his wife Maanayata has stopped being seen in public. The star wife has been avoiding the spotlight and prefers to be at home. However, she made an exception to attend the funeral of the kin of Sanjay’s lawyer Rizwan Merchant who perished in the recent Mahim building collapse.

Says a source, “Maanayata was disturbed after she heard about Rizwan’s tragedy. Apart from being Sanju’s lawyer, he shared a personal rapport with the star and Maanayata. He had been of great support to Sanju.

As soon as she was informed about the building collapse on Monday evening, she had been in constant touch with Rizwan till the bodies of his family members were extricated from the debris on Tuesday morning.”
The funeral of the lawyer’s kin was held on Tuesday evening.
Adds the source, “Maanayata was present during the last rites and has been mourning the loss of Rizwan’s loved ones. She has also kept two of Sanju’s vehicles at Rizwan’s disposal for the collection of the family’s belongings from the crash site. Due to the close rapport that Sanju shared with Rizwan, Maanayata has been sharing his grief and rallying support.”
