Maharashtra government has undertaken computerisation of state border check-posts to facilitate smooth passage of commercial transport vehicles.

There are 22 check-posts bordering Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Goa.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today took a stock of the ongoing process.

Principal Secretary (Transport) S K Sharma told PTI that more than 50 per cent of the modernisation work at the 22 check-posts was complete. "Our endeavour is to make the check-posts customer- friendly and ensure hassle-free passage," he said.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for co-ordination between sales tax, excise and transport departments, sources said.
