In order to recover part of increase in input costs especially towards sudden and rapid depreciation of Rupees against US $, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) decided to enforce this hike with effect from night of September 6/ morning of September 7.
Revised rates for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), inclusive of local taxes
Taxi and auto unions have demanded an increase in fares citing the hike in CNG prices. While the taxi unions want Rs 24 as the basic fare and Rs 16 for every subsequent km, auto unions have stated that the government should hike the fares after considering factors like fuel hike, cost of living, etc.
Meanwhile, MGL has also revised the domestic PNG (piped natural gas) slabs effective tomorrow. Accordingly, the new Slab I (0 to 0.80 scmd) stands reduced to 0-0.5 scmd (standard cubic meters gas per day) and Slab II (0.81 scmd to 1.2 scmd) stands reduced from 1.2 scmd to 0.51-0.9 scmd and Slab III (1.2 scmd and above) to 0.9 scmd and above. The new prices inclusive of all taxes will be Rs 24.09 for Slab I and Rs 26.77 for Slab II and III.
