If not a record crowd, a record number of Parsis will surely get together at the Mahalaxmi racecourse on Sunday to witness a rich card featuring as many as eight "million" races put together by the Parsi Panchayat to mark the tenth World Zorastrian Congress held in city this week.
A bumper race card will commemorate the horse-loving community's association with horses and racing that began in late 19th century when Sir C N Wadia donated the racecourse land to the turf club, and later transformed it into what we today know as the Mahalaxmi racecourse.
Leading wealthy Parsis like the Poonawallas, Shapoor Mistry, KN Dhunjibhoy, Mehtas, Talati and Panthaky feature as sponsors on today's card, of which Zorastrian Multi-million features as the main event. There is a strong likelihood that Maisha, sporting the silks of a Parsi owner (Mehernosh Deboo), trained by a Parsi trainer (Pesi Shroff) and to be ridden by a Parsi boy (S Zervan) will emerge victorious in this event.

To The Manor Born, trained by Nosher Cama, is expected to maintain her unbeaten status and win the Gool & Soli Poonawalla Memorial Million, and accordingly, attracts as the best bet of the Sunday afternoon. First race at 1.45 pm.
