Major fire breaks out at bookstore in Pune

A massive fire has broken out at Crossword bookstore situated at Saurabh hall near Pune railway station on Sunday evening.

The fire brigade, along with local residents and Pune police, have been battling for more than seven hours to try and bring the fire under control.

The fire bridge jawans successfully rescued around three people, but a few are still said to be stuck in the building.

According to the police, “The reason behind the fire breaking out is unclear, but lots of books have been damaged. Even after over seven hours, the fire has not ceased. More than 40 firemen are trying to bring the fire under control. Around 12 fire tankers, three JCBs, and 40 meter-long ladders are part of the rescue operations.”
