Aqua aerobics is performed in water and gives the benefit of toning the body (thanks to aerobics) and reduces the risk of muscle or joint injury (thanks to the water). So, it is safe for youngsters as well as for the elderly. It puts less stress on the joints when stretching, and can allow a greater range of motion. The sport doesn’t even require you to be a top-notch swimmer or an aerobics expert. With benefits of both pursuing a hobby as well as learning a water sport; aqua aerobics seems to be a preferred outdoor calisthenics amongst the families.

River rafting is another challenging water sport that is mostly attempted by youngsters. This extreme sport is mostly practiced on white water. There are different levels of river rafting that will help you get some thrills and also fetch you a certificate in the end. Vikas Bontav, member of X Limitz Adventure World, says, “We have special camps for children from the age of 10 onwards.”

Do the dive
Scuba diving, as a water sport, has been garnering a lot of attention lately. And what’s better than using the summer vacation to complete a short course in the sport. Siddharth Pujari, founder of Absolute Scuba, which offers scuba diving certification courses, admits there is a growing demand for the sport in the city. “During this season, we get a lot of enquiries. Right from a child aged 10 to a 50-year-old, everyone can participate in this adventure sport. A four-day open water course will give you the know-how to even dive into the Red Sea. The diving license for open water diving that you get at the end of the course can be used anywhere,” he says.Often termed as a buddy sport, scuba diving allows you to dive in groups with your friends and have a memorable time.
