Make sure monorail services remain on track: MMRDA to L&T

Responding to the monorail service on the Wadala-Chembur line being shut for ten hours on July 20-21, the MMRDA has told the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to improve insulation of the wires to ensure that the services remain on track.

A senior MMRDA official requesting anonymity said, "We have instructed L&T who is the civil contractor of monorail stretch to see to it that the underground cables that supply power to the line are properly insulated to prevent any further problem."

In order to carry out the work, the authorities may dig up the roads and footpaths during monsoon.

It should be noted that on July 20th in an incident that had taken place under the Fertiliser Township Monorail Station , a wire had got tripped because of which the monorail services were completely shut for 10 hours.

MMRDA also has plans to penalise the firm responsible for the upkeep on the electrical system which caused the problem.
