Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night announcement scrapping the old Rs 500, Rs 1,000 notes after midnight saw a mad rush by citizens for bank ATMs to deposit currencies of these denominations in Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) and withdrawing notes of lower denomination. But it also saw several people throng the social media platforms to showcase their wit.

And where there the twain of wit and Twitter shall meet, there you will find the 'Nawab of Twitter -- former India opener Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag was in top form and his tongue-in-cheek post about Modi's sudden move was a double strike since he managed to linke the American presidential elections and Indian PM's anti-black money decision.
"In America they will count Votes. In India count Notes. Tonight just notice d houses that dont have lights off, Note Counting On.#BlackMoney," the Delhi dasher tweeted.

Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif too was at his wittiest best, suggesting that the notes would be used as paper cups to sell snacks by street vendors.

Modi announced on Tuesday that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes will cease to be legal tender from midnight of Tuesday as part of sweeping steps to battle black money.
