The 22- year- old hung herself from ceiling fan
A 22- year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her sister’s residence in Bangur Nagar, Malad on Friday night. Police officials have arrested a 23- year-old boy, who is allegedly the deceased’s boyfriend, for abetment to suicide after the girl’s family lodged a complaint.
Nazia Siddiqui lived with her mother and two brothers at Naya Nagar, Bangur Nagar. She also had two married sisters.

Siddiqui got into a relationship with Alok Chaurasia last week. Two days before the suicide, Chaurasia stopped taking Siddiqui’s calls. In his statement, Chaurasia claimed that he suspected Siddiqui was involved with another man, and therefore stopped talking to her.
On Friday, at 8 pm, Siddiqui went to her sister’s house next door when the sister and her husband had gone out. When they returned, they found the door locked from inside. When they broke open the door, Siddiqui’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
A police officer said, “ Based on the family’s allegations, we have arrested Chaurasia under Section 306 ( abetment to suicide) of the IPC.” On Friday at 8 pm, Siddiqui went to her sister’s house next door when the sister and her husband had gone out. When they returned, they found the door locked from inside.
