Thiruvananthapuram: Yesteryear singer-composer Bombay S Kamal, who scored music for many movies, passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The 82-year-old musician was suffering from respiratory ailments and passed away late on Monday night, family sources said.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
Though he was born in Mumbai, Kamal came to Kerala and settled in Kozhikode in the late 1950s following his acquaintance with well known Malayalam composer M S Baburaj.
With his support, Kamal forayed into the Malayalam film music through the movie 'Evide En Prabhatham' directed by Dr Balakrishna.
Besides composing music for 13 Malayalam films, he also found a place in the hearts of music buffs through his ghazal shows.
After he shifted to the capital city in the year 2000, Kamal was a common presence in the cultural scenario.
