A teenage boy was seriously injured after being allegedly beaten up by the father of a girl with whom he reportedly had a friendship in Vartak Nagar area of Thane, police said today.
The 16-year-old boy had been friendly with the girl since sometime and her father had asked the boy to discontinue his association with his daughter.
Yesterday, the accused, Vijay Ghate, caught hold of the boy and locked him in a room where he was allegedly beaten up by Ghate and his driver, police said.
Ghate also threatened the boy with dire consequences by pointing a revolver at him, police said.
The boy managed to escape from the room and informed his parents about the incident. He has been admitted to hospital, while the accused has been booked under various sections of IPC and also under the Arms Act, police said.
An investigation is on in the case.
