A 35 year-old man from Malad (East) has been arrested for allegedly raping his minor daughter for three nights, after threatening her with a knife. The accused, who works in a private firm, was taken into custody by police on February 14, after his wife caught him in the act.
The survivor narrated the whole incident to her mother, claiming that her father had been sexually assaulting her repeatedly, threatening that if she opened her mouth, he would kill her and her mother. Realising the seriousness of the matter, the mother garnered courage and approached the Kurar police along with her daughter.
According to cops, the 13-year-old girl’s ordeal began on the night of February 11, when she was asleep. “On the pretext of giving some medicine, the accused had been slipping some sleeping pills to his wife, and had then raped his daughter repeatedly.
Whenever she resisted, he thrashed her,” a police officer said. “We arrested the man after the survivor’s mother came to the police station and filed a complaint,” said inspector Anil Baljhade from Kurar police station.
The accused has been booked for rape and criminal intimidation under the IPC, besides provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was produced before a court, which remanded him in police custody.
