Family alleges foul play; victim's mobile phone missing
Au00a0 man was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented house in Jafrabad area of northeast Delhi on Tuesday night.
The body of Meherban, 42, was first spotted by his landlord Raees at 11 pm in Brahampuri area. Meherbaan was missing from his house since morning. The police have sent the body for postmortem. The deceased's family alleged foul play, saying there were injury marks on the body.
"His mobile phone was switched off since Tuesday morning and has not been recovered from the room where Meherban's body was found. It establishes that some foul play is involved," alleged a family member.
It was also claimed that Meherban had some ongoing dispute with a few of his friends, who might have killed him. The police have detained one person for questioning and they are waiting for the postmortem report for confirmation of the cause of death.
"We can't say anything at this point in time. We are awaiting the report," said a police officer.
