According to police, the accused was identified as Jamruddin, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. "Police received information from the CISF personnel about the incident around 6pm in the evening. We have arrested the person and a case under the Arms Act has been registered at Kirti Nagar police station. We are investigating the matter," said DCP (Railways) BS Gurjar.

Police said Jamruddin had bought a token to go to Dilshad Garden from Kirti Nagar and was about to go for the security check when the security personnel found him carrying a country-made pistol. He was immediately nabbed by the officials, who then informed the Railway police about the incident.

He said he was carrying the weapon for his protection in Meerut and had accidentally carried it to Delhi. "The accused was found to be a scrap dealer who frequently travelled to Kirti Nagar for business purposes. The cops are questioning him and conducting a background check. We are finding out if he has any previous criminal record," said an official.
