A petty argument broke out between a painter and his wife over who would cut onions to prepare eggs bhurjee. The fight ended tragically when the husband killed his wife in a fit of rage, at Thergaon on Sunday afternoon. The Hinjewadi police have arrested the husband Subhash Kumbhar (31) for the murder of his wife Vaishali Subhash Kumbhar (25), a resident of Pawarnagar area of Thergaon. The couple stayed in a rented accommodation with their two minor children, who were at their grandfather’s house in Dapodi when the incident took place.
According to Hinjewadi police, Kumbhar is addicted to alcohol. Officials said, “On Sunday afternoon, Kumbhar was cutting onions to prepare bhurjee. As the knife was not sharp, he abused his wife and asked her to cut the onions. But, she refused. This started a verbal spat between the couple and Vaishali hit him with a rolling pin. Kumbhar then stabbed her in the stomach, which resulted in her death.”
Kumbhar then tried to flee but some youths caught him. The youths informed the police control room and Kumbhar’s landlord Nitin Pawar of the incident. Pawar reached the spot after some time and rushed Vaishali to YCM Hospital in Pimpri by auto rickshaw. However, doctors declared her dead at the hospital.ACP (Chatuhshrungi division) Smita Patil said, “We have arrested Kumbhar for murder. He stabbed Vaishali in a fit of rage.”
